Okinawa best song

Okinawa best song

When I went to Okinawa, about 10 years ago, it was a very nice trip but very special. Not as usual. First of all, when I landed on the principal island in Naha, it was just few hours before a big typhoon, so I had to stay in the hotel room. I tried to go to the airport but there all the flights were cancel. It was amazing to see all those Japanese people seatted on the floor waiting for hours for their planes. And to see the palm trees lying down, all the wind, the rain and like 35 degrees outside. Tropical.

Then when it was ok to take a plane, I arrived on a very small island: Ishigaki, very famous for its Kabira Bay, and pearl jewelry. At the airport someone from the minshuku (Japanese inn) was here, and he drove during 30 minutes almost, on the dark small roads of the island. I was very afraid for where I was going to. But when he stopped the car in frond of the house, everyone there was waiting for me, playing local music with shamisen and sanshin, drinking beer and umeshu (I love umeshu). It was nice.

It was a small pension and I could take all the meal there. When it was time to eat, a nice traditional song from Okinawa was played. When you heard it during one week, 3 times a day,, you seems to know it and almost think you can understand Japanese.

Then, when I came back to Paris, I put the cd I bought in Okinawa, and I was so surprise and happy to hear "my favorite Okinawa song" here.

Now you can share with me this joy.
