Tokyo midnight diner - 深夜食堂
What a chance! After a wonderful week in Japan at Gentiane and Antoine's home in Tokyo and Ohara, I am still in Japan mood. I try to find a place for my new Japanese stuff, I still want to hear Japanese and when I saw the Japanese TV "midnight dinner" show on Netflix, it was just a nice surprise.
The show is about a "master", working in his own restaurant, open the whole night in Shinjuku golden gai area, and cooking anything you want if he has the ingredients. You can learn the traditional recipes of classic Japanese meal following people. Some of them are always eating at this small restaurant, like these three women
Every episode is about a typical meal: tan-men, pogo, tonteki, umeboshi, tombât su and more.
The restaurant is suppose to be in Shinjuku, and the master is played by Kaoru Kobayashi, a great actor looking like Kitano Takeshi but younger. Maybe because of his scar.
If you love Japan as much as I do, and if you love Japanese food like me, this show is for you.
